Introducing the FOLK ART of southern artist...JULIE SCHRONK...Hillsboro, Texas

Read on and YOU will find out all about my art and something about me!

About the Artist...

Julie grew up in Dallas, Texas and showed a talent for art at a very early age, but she did  not begin to paint folk art until about 6 years ago. She considers herself to be a completely self taught folk artist which means that she has no formal training in folk art...just a love of all things 'folksy." She calls her style of folk painting "NAIVE" or "PRIMITIVE" an ever evolving style. She sees beauty in the south and she tries to capture that beauty on canvas with paints and brushes. Her folk scenes are those of bygone days, sometimes painted from memory or the stories her mother told her of growing up on a farm in Texas and of the black children she played with. But mostly Julie's folk art springs from her rich and fanciful imagination-a folk fantasy world. Most all her paintings are done with acrylic paints...well mostly because they dry fast and mostly just 'cuse! When finished, each work of art is sprayed with a coat of non yellowing varnish to POP the already lovely colors. Folk art is sooooo colorful.

The artist paints three types of folk art...

Traditional Folk Art...New England Grandma Moses type scenes...

Black Folk Art of which she is most well known for and...

Bayou Art-art that celebrates life along the twisty ole Bayous of rural Louisiana. Watch out for wily old gators, crawdads, creepy green swamps, folks fishin', moss laden trees!

Julie's Folk Art world if YOU enter it is filled with..

Dusty country roads...lazy streams...old houses...falling down barns...strutting chickens...and crazy cows...quilts galore...lush trees and foliage...and happy folk art folks doing happy folk art things...like...picking apples, hoeing, quilting, dancing, juking, gettin' Baptized, goin' to church, visiting the old country store, or just snoozin'!
